Mom's Retirement Party

My Mom is retiring on Friday after working at the same place for 42 years. You very rarely here of that these days. I can remember going there when I was little and now my children go there it is going to be so strange now not the go there every once in a while. I'm so glad she is retiring at a semi early age so she can enjoy her grandchildren and her fabulous daughters. Here is a pic of the whole family at her work party.

Facebook is an Addiction

I just jumped on the Facebook wagon and it can be very addictive.

I look at people I went to High School with and I think do I look that old?

Also, if we were not friends in High School why would we be Facebook friends is there a competion on who has the most friends or what. I'm at a lost.

If I know you now and or we did speak occasionally in High School I'm all about letting you see my information but if not that is just freaky.

It's been a while and a lot has happen

Well the Girls trip was a blast I enjoyed Gulf Shores a little too much have any of you ever been to a bar named Flor-Bama? Well I can check that off my list. Also went to Lu Lu's, Jimmy Buffet's sisters outside eatery(It was Great), the Oyster House was fantastic.

The weekend after the girls trip was Relay for Life and my group the Flip Flop Flamingo's (which is a group of girls and there Moms and Grandmothers that have been friends for ever) raised over 3,000 dollars, not bad for about 24 girls. We walked and ate through the rain and everything else till about 2:00a.m. then decided to pack it up. We did win an award for best new team among 17 total new teams.( hey we know we are the best every where we go) Here are some pics

Violet's luminary I made for her.
Some half naked young boy who though he would like to dance with us at about 12:30 a.m.
My Mom shaking her money maker. (Ha Ha) love ya mom
My friend Diane, her in-laws lived next door to my grandparent so she has known me since birth she is a hoot.
My friend Michelle we have been friends since middle school. We know to much about each other to ever stop being friends. Love ya girl.

And there has been an addition to the Harmon Hooligans, no I'm not pregnant but we have a dog before I introduce him let me say I wanted a fu fu dog, a lap dog, and most important a girl dog since there will be no girl for me. This folks is what we rescued from the animal shelter at Pet Smart for a low sum (ha ha) of $150.

His name is ?

Nacho Bellgrande Harmon

And he is growing on me a little everyday.

Last Day of school for me was 5/22 this was the fastest school year ever for me, but it does not seem like summer yet because Cole is still in school that whole Paulding County starting a week after us and they get the week in February. He is not thrilled with me and Carson being home without him. Speaking of Carson I wrote that last Daycare check and it felt good. My Mom retires July 17th and will be keeping him next year.(Yeah!!!) He will go to preschool for 2 days a week next year at church, because we can't have him completely out of structure. He needs structure.

Memorial Day was also my Sister Lea-ann's 40th birthday weekend. Wow I have a sister who is 40 that is scary. We had originally planned a trip but that did not workout, so we went out to dinner and offered to take her out on the boat for her birthday celebration but when we woke up on Sunday it was not sunny and she backed out. The clouds and cold water did not stop us.

I wish I was still at the beach

I'm so ready for the summer. I made a little slide show from the beach it turned out pretty good.

This video is of Cole doing the reverse Bungee which he did not want to do but was a little forced by his Dad but afterwards thought we should pay another 40 bucks for him to do it again. ( yeah right)

3 days and counting

Spring Break

Can't wait to head to the beach for the break. We will leave either Friday night around 7 p.m. or Saturday around 4a.m. Just depends on when the Canadians are leaving. I have gone to Panama City Beach every year except one since I was in middle school. I took both my boys when they were just months old. If you know where to stay and you stay off the strip late at night it is not as wild as you think.

Here's to this week flying by.

P.S.
I can't download my sips and strokes pic I painted because my camera is dead.
I will get it up soon it is crazy how they can make you paint good even if you have no talent.

The Lost Week

I have been sick since Saturday, went to the doctor on Wednesday I have bronchitis. Needless to say I have a mountain of laundry and other household chores to do. I wondered if I would ever catch up but needless to say Carson woke up sick today so I'm home with him so maybe there is a chance I will make a dent in all of this stuff.

Update: Took Carson to the doctor because I was sure it was strep well of course I was wrong it is viral just need to give him over the counter medicine. (that's why Doctors make the big bucks, I guess)

We have a busy weekend ahead of us

Cole has two baseball games and pictures.

My mother and I are going to https://www.sipsnstrokes.com/ with a group a friends to do a whole painting in one afternoon. I will report back, they say anyone can paint. I will be a challenge for them I'm sure.

Have a great weekend.

Rain out and chest cold

Nothing makes a bad weekend except cancelled baseball game and a chest cold. It makes me feel a little better to see how my family manages when I'm sick. Saturday night pizza hut, Sunday for lunch Mark's mom was cooking for his dad's B-day. So I stayed home and slept for 2 1/2 hours. Sunday night my mom is cooking vegetable soup and cornbread. Maybe it was not so bad being sick this weekend. First weekend in forever I have not left the house but one time, Saturday when I went to pick up taco bell when it first hit me I had a 102 temp. Feeling better now that I having taken 2-3 rounds dayquil and nyquil.

Snow Day

I downloaded these in the wrong order. The first pic is Cole falling right after the second pic was taken.
Carson was up at 6:00 a.m. sick so I was shocked that he even went outside at all.
Unfortunately the snow started so early in the day that it looks like we will have to go to school tomorrow.(bummer)
Gotta get to bed since the bus does not like to crank after a cold weekend.

Happy Brithday Sugar Bear

My niece Taylor is 17 today.

I know I spelled Birthday wrong but that is an inside joke I have with her.

17 reasons I love this girl

1. She drives my sister crazy and I get pleasure from this.
2. She is silly.
3. She does anything I ask of her 70% of the time.(another inside joke)
4. She loves the Yellow Jackets. ( not a trader like Tyler)
5. I loved to watch her play Softball.
6. She has more purses than me and sometimes gives them to me when she is done.
7. She will go out without make up (this she gets from me)
8. She answers her phone when I call her.
9. She is the tallest in our family so far.
10. She is funny.
11. She is a pro at texting.
12. Beannie Baby Christmas 1999. (funniest Christmas ever)
13. She works hard on her grades.
14. She can take her uncle Mark's relentless pestering .
15. She has the best school spirit.
16. She wants to be a nurse which will be useful when I'm old and grey.
17. Last but not least because when she was little I would sing this song and she thought it was hillarious.

She's my sugar bear with sugar hair she just rolls and rolls all day.

Love Ya Taylor

On to the next sport

Well, today was Cole's last basketball game and we lost for the first time all season. We had a great season besides a few questionable referees and the rules being a little strange for 8-9 year old. First of all why are you not keeping score at this age, at some point kids need to learn how to be a good loser and a good winner. Of course we keep up with score because Cole wants to know if his team won or not. I remember growing up and from the start you either won the game or you lost the game it was not that big of deal because eventually everybody wins and everybody loses at some point. The other thing was there was no foul shots and they did not keep up with fouls, so the best defense was to foul which is not a good habit to start.

Well, has you can see from my new background we are on to my favorite sport Baseball. We have already had a couple of practices and we look pretty good. This is our first year in kid pitch so that should be interesting. Cole loves all sports, his favorite is which ever one he is playing at the minute. Not me baseball is my favorite.

My Mama's B-day

Happy Birthday to my Mama

The big 62

This will be a great year for her. She is going to retire and keep the sweetest kids on earth, at least that is what I'm telling her now since she is going to be keeping my kids. She will find out soon enough that the sweetest description is not always true.

Just kidding, she lives with me and knows well enough what she is getting into, which might be why she keeps telling me she hopes she is doing the right thing. (ha ha)

For those who do not know me I'm the biggest Mama's girl, ever since I was little and now into my Thirty's I talk to my Mom everyday even before, when she did not live with us. I love her more than anything and she is one of my best friends.

Nine Years Old

I can't believe that I have a nine year old.

Yep, this time nine years ago today I had a little baby boy. He had a few problems when he was born, but you would never know it now. So in honor of my oldest child, here are nine things I love the most about Cole Scott Harmon.

1. Those baby blue eyes.

2. You are never at a lost for words.

3. That you make me laugh everyday, you are one of the funniest people I know.

4. You have never met a stranger.

5. You dance like no one is watching. ( maybe not such a good thing sometimes Ha Ha)

6. You tell me you love me the most even though some days I know your Dad is your favorite.

7. You take care of your brother and even will wipe his butt if I'm busy.

8. You love and respect your grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

9. Most of all your my oldest son,you hold a special place in my heart, I will never forget the day you were born it was the first day of the rest of my life and it has been the best days since.

Love Ya

My friend Tiffany tagged me...and I thought this would be fun.

So, here's what you do:

1. Go to your 4th folder where you store your photos.

2. Select the 4th photo (no exceptions).

3. Post the picture with an explanation.

4. Tag 4 people to do the same.

This is Mark and Carson doing what they both love the most about spring and summer, cutting grass almost every week. Carson loves it so much that Mark sometimes puts the blade up and they just ride around the yard.

Who is in charge of this Bus?

Most of you know that I'm a bus driver. That being said I must vent.

It is conference week in my district which means elementary and middle school gets out of school 2 hours early all week. I do not have a regular route, I'm what they call a retainer driver, I drive for those regular drivers who are out. I drive everyday but different routes. So I'm doing a route Tuesday afternoon and in the area I'm in it is not customary for the parents to be out at the bus stop to retrieve their kids(yes that is right elementary kids getting off the bus with no adult in site, crazy right?) So I let this brother and sister off at their stop they are kindergarten and 2nd grade, I finish the rest of the neighborhood. On the way out I see them running up the street away from their house with their book bags still on, the rest of the kids on the bus are screaming oh their mom is not home (again). I stop the bus and ask them is your mom home? At first I was thinking maybe the mom forgot about the early release this week. They say no but we are suppose to go to the neighbors house when she is not here.(the neighbor eight houses up) I ask them if they have a note on file at the school that states this, so that I could call on the two-way radio to the school to confirm. No we do not have a note, I then ask does your normal bus driver let you do this? answer is no. I then say, get back on the bus,I will take you back to school. I'm not leaving you both here alone. I then finish the route, we are pulling into the school about 15 minutes later when out of nowhere here comes mom flying into the school and pulls in front of my bus and she is mad at me. It seems that I made the wrong decision in caring for the safety of her children and even though I'm not their regular driver, I should have listened to her 5 and 7 year old children and let them go where she told them if she was not at home on time. I apologized but then said to her, now put yourself in my shoes would you have left them? She said yes I would have listened to the children.

Well Thank God you are not a bus driver.

If I listen to children all day and did what they instructed, they would be driving the bus and stopping at every McDonald's we past and all getting off the bus at the cool kids house for the afternoon.

Sorry for the long post just needed to get that off my chest.

By the way, checked with regular driver today. This mom is always late and several times has been mad that children were left alone when the neighbor was not at home, which is where they are to go when she is late.

As you can see to the left I have started reading Twilight.
I know I'm behind, but actually I bought it for my niece for Christmas so she could read it first to see if it was scary, because I'm a big chicken and do not like to read something scary. So,she read it,loved it, and approved it can now be read my her aunt who by the way is a sissy about scary stuff.

Brrrrrrrr

It is cold here in Georgia, and when then temperature gets to be 25 and under that means a cold start for the bus drivers. Yeah can't wait, that means you have to be on your bus 30 minutes earlier. So if you are up at 5:45 a.m. and you are wondering what Amanda's doing ? I'm on my bus to make sure it cranks and that it is warm for the lovely children.

By the way a cold start is in place until next Tuesday.

Which means I need to go to bed

Home Alone

Yes you read that right. I'm all alone, what to do with myself besides the 6 loads of laundry that need to be done. Cole went back to school today but Cobb does not go back till Tuesday, I took Carson to daycare when I went to move my bus back to my parking location. I know some may think that is bad that I took him back while I'm off today. But hey every day that school is out I keep Carson home from daycare and he has been home for 2 weeks and was up at 5 a.m. ready to go to school. I think he is tired of me and his brother. What will he do when my Mom retires and he does not go to Daycare at all next year????
